Sufficient cooling capacity

Depending on your order, you will receive the pneumococcal vaccines together with the flu vaccines. It is important to ensure sufficient cooling capacity for storage of both vaccines.

If you have insufficient cooling capacity, consider renting or buying extra cooling space or asking a pharmacy to temporarily store vaccines. You can also have the pneumococcal vaccines delivered separately from the flu vaccines.

To determine whether you have sufficient cooling capacity, you should take the following two points into account:

  • You need fewer pneumococcal vaccines per campaign than flu vaccines, because the target group is smaller.
  • The packages of the pneumococcal vaccines are approximately 2.5 times larger than the packages of the flu vaccines and therefore take up more space in the refrigerator.

To get an idea of the dimensions of the different vaccines, a number of examples are given below:

The size of a 10-pack

Pneumovax is 9.5 cm x 8.7 cm x 15 cm. = 1239.75
Dimensions Vaxigrip tetra: 9.7 x 4.48 x 11.8 = 512.78
Dimensions Influvac tetra: 18.8 x 15.2 x 1.7 = 485.792

5 boxes of Influvac Tetra, 50 vaccines = 2.4 milk cartons
5 boxes of Vaxigrip Tetra, 50 vaccines = 2.6 milk cartons
5 boxes of Pneumovax23, 50 vaccines = 6.2 milk cartons

10 milk cartons

20.6 boxes of Influvac Tetra
19.5 boxes of Vaxigrip Tetra
8 boxes of Pneumovax23

Pneumovax

The volume of 40 vaccines is comparable to 5 liter cartons of milk.
The volume of 70 vaccines is comparable to 8.75 liter cartons of milk.
With 100 vaccines, the volume is comparable to 12.5 liter cartons of milk.
