The Hoshizaki FM machines produce flake or nugget ice for a wide range of purposes. This makes them very popular with catering companies, cocktail bars and a number of large European supermarket chains, but also in the medical world and healthcare. The ice is compressed during production, which means it melts less quickly. With the ice produced by Hoshizaki ice machines, the phenomenon of 'freezer burn' does not occur when presenting fresh fish or other products.

Flake ice: consists of 70% ice and 30% water. It is mainly used for cooling purposes. In the medical sector, flake ice is used to cool blood and organs; in the fishing industry, it is used to cool, transport and store fish.

Hoshizaki ice machines in this series can be converted to flake or nugget ice relatively inexpensively, making them considerably more flexible than other machines on the market.

This series uses carbon worm bearings, a very robust alternative to roller bearings. This increases the lifespan of your machine and saves you maintenance costs. The worm and evaporator are made of high-quality stainless steel, which also increases the lifespan of these parts, making your machine last longer and require less maintenance.

Hydrocarbons (HC) are naturally occurring compounds that have proven to be the most climate-friendly and cost-effective refrigerants for heating, cooling and refrigeration. According to Hoshizaki, hydrocarbons will play a major role in the future of refrigeration technology and the company is taking the lead in producing environmentally friendly ice machines. This means that using hydrocarbon ice machines reduces energy consumption by up to 20% per unit, which reduces CO2 emissions from energy suppliers and saves on operating costs. In addition, the FM Series uses HFC-free CO2 foam insulation for further savings on operating costs. This keeps the temperature of the unit constant, which in turn helps to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions.

Please note: limescale deposits due to (too) hard water can cause the machine to malfunction. This is not covered by the warranty! We always recommend installing the water filter, especially with limescale-rich water, to preserve the machine.
