Introduction
MediCooling uses online technologies, such as cookies and scripts, that make it possible to increase the ease of use of our websites and apps and to make our products and services as interesting as possible. We will refer to these technologies as “cookies”.
We believe it is important that you understand exactly which cookies we use on our websites and apps, why we use cookies, who we work with for this and how you can set your privacy preferences. You can find all this information in this cookie policy.
Some websites and apps of MediCooling have their own cookie policy. The applicable cookie policy can always be consulted on the relevant website or in the app.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone or tablet. These small text files contain certain information that tells us more about you, your use of our websites and apps, or your preferences and interests. You determine what we may do with this information yourself through the privacy settings.
Where does MediCooling use cookies?
At MediCooling we use cookies on all our websites and in all our apps.
We may also collect information via cookies on websites or in apps that do not fall under MediCooling (for example, the website of an advertiser). The placement and use of cookies on those websites or in those apps is subject to the cookie policy of the respective website or app. Information that MediCooling receives in this way is treated according to the principles as explained in this cookie policy and always with respect for your preferences.
For which websites and apps does my consent or privacy setting apply?
MediCooling uses a so-called cross domain consent for a number of its websites and apps. This means that your consent or privacy setting also automatically applies to the websites and apps that fall under the cross domain consent so that you do not have to give your consent again or pass on your privacy setting for those websites and apps. Please note that your choice always applies per device. If you have multiple devices, you will have to make your choice on each device separately.
Why does MediCooling use cookies?
There are different types of cookies, each of which is used for a specific purpose or functionality. In concrete terms, the websites and apps of MediCooling use cookies for the following purposes:
- To make our websites and apps function ('functional cookies');
- To map the general use of our websites and apps ('statistical cookies');
- To personalize our websites and apps ('personalization cookies');
- To promote and improve our own services and products ('marketing cookies');
- To integrate with social media platforms ('social media cookies');
- To deliver personalized advertisements ('advertisement cookies').
Below you can find more explanation for each purpose.
Functional cookies
Functional cookies are used to make the websites or apps work. These cookies are necessary for the websites and apps to function properly. You cannot therefore refuse or disable them.
This includes cookies that:
- Transfer information from one page to the next, for example when a long survey is completed or when you have to enter a lot of data when ordering online;
- Storing preferences, such as language, location, the desired number of search results to be displayed, etc.;
- Storing settings for optimal video display, such as the desired buffer size and the resolution data of your screen;
- Reading your browser settings to be able to display our website optimally on your screen;
- Detecting abuse of our website and services, for example by registering a number of consecutive failed login attempts;
- Evenly loading the website, so that the website remains accessible;
- Offering the option to save login details so that you do not have to enter them again every time.
Statistical cookies
We use statistical cookies to map the general use of our websites and apps. This is done on the basis of anonymous data. More specifically, we use statistical cookies to determine which parts of the websites or apps are most interesting to users. We do this by measuring how many people visit a website or an app and which pages, items or articles are viewed the most.
Statistics are created from the information we collect in this way. These statistics give us insight into how often certain web pages or parts of an app are visited and where visitors and users generally spend the most time. This enables us to make the structure, navigation and content of the website or app as user-friendly as possible. We cannot trace these statistics and other reports back to individuals.
We use statistical cookies for example for:
- Keeping track of the number of visitors to our web pages and parts of an app;
- Keeping track of the amount of time each visitor spends on our web pages and parts of the app;
- Determining the order in which a visitor visits the various pages of our website or parts of an app;
- Assessing which parts of our websites and apps require adjustment;
- Optimizing websites and apps.
Personalization cookies
We use these cookies to map individual surfing and usage behavior on our websites or in our apps and to personalize the website, app or our communication with you based on this. When you have an account and are logged in, we link your surfing and usage behavior to your account and can thus personalize your user experience on all your devices. We also use your rough geolocation to personalize our website and apps based on your estimated location. For example, you will be shown products that are relevant to the region where you are located.
The purpose of these cookies is to provide each visitor and user with information that is as relevant as possible to him or her. That is why we try to adapt the content of our websites and apps as much as possible to each visitor or user. We do this by recommending interesting articles, videos or topics based on what you have previously read or viewed. Our direct marketing communication, such as newsletters and push messages, is also personalized in this way.
Marketing cookies
We use these cookies to use your surfing behavior on our websites and in our apps for our own marketing purposes. Thanks to these cookies, you can see advertisements for our own products and services on other websites and apps.
This category also includes cookies that are used to improve our websites, apps, products and services (for example cookies to collect user feedback or cookies that map where users drop out in a registration process).
Social media cookies
When we integrate content from social media into our websites or apps, these parties place cookies to learn more about your surfing behavior. In addition, you can share the articles and videos that you view on our websites or in apps by means of buttons via social media. For the functioning of these buttons, cookies are used from the social media networks involved, so that they recognize you when you want to share an article or video.
If you do not allow these cookies, we will not show this content. More information about all this can be found in the privacy and cookie policies of these parties.
Which cookies are placed on my device?
For an overview of all cookies that MediCooling can place on its websites and apps, the domains on which these cookies are placed and the storage period of these cookies on your device click here. This overview contains all cookies that MediCooling uses on all its websites and apps. This does not mean that all cookies are placed on every website and app. Only a part of these cookies are placed on the specific website or app of MediCooling that you visit.
Due to the way the internet, websites and apps work, it is possible that we do not always have insight into the cookies that are placed on our websites or apps by third parties. This is particularly the case if our web pages or apps contain so-called embedded elements: these are texts, documents, images or videos that are stored with another party, but that are shown on, in or via our websites or apps.
If you encounter cookies on websites or apps that fall into this category and that we have not mentioned in the overview, please let us know. Or contact the third party directly and ask which cookies they place, what the reason is for this, what the lifespan of the cookie is and how they have guaranteed your privacy.
How can I set my privacy preferences?
When you visit a MediCooling website for the first time or when you use an app for the first time, you must indicate via the settings screen for which purposes you allow our websites or apps to place cookies. You can make a different choice for each device. For example, if you only want to accept all cookies on your computer and only limited cookies on your tablet, we will take that into account.
If you want to change your choice later, that is no problem. On our websites, you can always reset your preferences in the footer at the bottom of the page by clicking on cookie preferences.
In the most popular browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge and Safari, you can determine in the settings which cookies you want to allow on your computer or device.
Why can't I refuse all cookies?
Functional cookies will always be placed because they are necessary for the website to work. Statistical cookies are also always loaded, because the data we collect with them is not personal. You can refuse all other cookies.
How can I manually delete or disable cookies?
You can choose to delete all cookies that are already on your computer in each browser. Please note that you must adjust these settings separately for each browser on each device you use. If you choose not to allow any type of cookies in your browser, including functional cookies, this may have a negative impact on the functioning of our websites.

Does MediCooling work with third parties?
Yes, in addition to our own cookies that are placed by MediCooling itself, third parties (our partners) also place cookies on our websites and apps. Therefore, there are two types of cookies:
- First party cookies: these are cookies that are placed by the domain of MediCooling. Only MediCooling has access to the information contained in the cookie.
- Third party cookies: these are cookies that are placed by a third party, so not by MediCooling itself. With these cookies, the third party that places the cookie has access to the data collected by the cookie in question.
Cookies, data protection and your rights
The information contained in cookies may in certain cases contain personal data within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
The GDPR obliges us to always have a legal basis for processing your personal data. With regard to functional cookies, MediCooling bases this basis on its legitimate interest in offering visitors and users an optimal and secure website, app or service. The same applies to statistical cookies, where it is in MediCooling’s legitimate interest to collect anonymized statistical data about the use of its websites and apps. For all other cookies that may contain personal data, MediCooling relies on your consent to process your data.
You can withdraw your consent at any time (again).
In addition to the right to withdraw your consent at any time, you have several other rights as a consumer under the GDPR that you can exercise against MediCooling. More information about these rights and how you can exercise them can be found in ourprivacy policy.
We always process personal data in line with ourprivacy policy, which should be read in conjunction with this cookie policy. You can also find information about the processing of personal data that is not collected via cookies in our privacy policy.
Changes to this cookie policy
We will occasionally have to adjust our cookie policy because, for example, our website, our app or the regulations regarding cookies change. When we publish changes to the cookie policy, we will adjust the “publication date” at the top of this page. You will always find the most recent version here.
If our cookie policy changes significantly, you will be asked again to set your preferences the next time you visit the website or use the app.
